Lo Stato del Disagio is a six-episode podcast on mental health in Italian universities and conservatoires. It comes out of Health Mode On, a project selected by the Ministry of University and Research for the promotion of psychological and physical wellbeing in the student community.

The starting point is a fact running through public debate: requests for help are rising, and anxiety and depression are increasing. But distress has neither a single form nor a single cause. It cuts across psychological, social, cultural and political dimensions.

Lo Stato del Disagio is a project curated by Dinamo. Writing and voice: Nicolò Porcelluzzi. Production: Giulio Burroni. Editing and sound design: Milo Adami. Direction and post-production: Matteo Scandolin. Additional voices: Luca Misculin, Elisa Lemma. Voice on the title sequence: Irene Fioravanti.

No culprits, no shortcuts. Six episodes to work through the distress of university students

The editorial line

The line was set at the outset: no culprits and no quick solutions.

A podcast that opens a space for understanding, weaving together voices that do not usually meet: student representatives, academics and clinical researchers, psychotherapists and psychiatrists, public health specialists.

It is a choice with technical consequences: long interviews (40–60 minutes), editing that builds dialogues between people who have never met, doubt left open instead of a closing synthesis.

The six episodes

Each episode takes on a specific knot: Becoming an adult today; Listening with care; It's the fault of social media. Apocalyptics vs Integrated; The cuckoo's nest; Classmates; The care of research.
