How do you talk about mental health at university without reducing it to an emergency and without falling into the trap of aestheticising distress?
Since 2024 Dinamo has worked with Health Mode On, a research and communication project funded by the Ministry of University and Research under the PRO.BEN programme, coordinated by the University of Pavia with eight universities and higher arts education institutions. The work covers visual identity, communication strategy and the development of the whole narrative ecosystem.
Psychological distress among students is a recognised subject, but around it there is no shared account, there is no evidence on the Italian student population, and there is no language for talking about it day to day. The challenge is to give shape to a new public discourse, grounded in research and accessible to the people living that distress.
Visual identity, web design and development, and a whole narrative ecosystem, from the research to the website to social media.

Health Mode On sits inside PRO.BEN, the Ministry of University and Research programme for promoting psychological and physical wellbeing and countering psychological and emotional distress among students.
The project starts from an analysis of risk factors and of student distress, through studies and surveys, and on that data builds support tools, prevention programmes and wellbeing activities, in collaboration with universities and health institutions.
Communication is an integral part of this method, not an addition to it.

From an initial strategy workshop we defined mission, values and tone of voice, and produced a full brand book with logo, palette and typography.
The identity holds together two registers that usually stay apart: scientific rigour and an accessible language.
The result is a system that gives the research its authority and, at the same time, speaks directly to students.

We designed and developed the official site healthmodeon.it as the project's central hub, with a modular CMS, dynamic pages, an integrated magazine, an events section and surveys, on a headless architecture (GKE + React).
The site gathers research, support, outputs and editorial content in a single environment. Alongside it we look after editorial production and the management of the social channels, with original visual content designed for the everyday character of the subject.
Health Mode On is an ongoing programme, growing with the research and with the community it involves. From surveys to campaigns, from the podcast "Lo Stato del Disagio" to videos with academics and researchers, every piece of content brings mental health into the centre of academic and public debate. Communication accompanies the project through its phases, turning evidence into a shared discourse.
